In accordance with § 5 of the University of Basel’s Student Regulations (Studierenden-Ordnung), the University of Basel recognises academic achievements obtained in another degree program or at another higher education institution recognised by the University of Basel, provided that the skills and knowledge form part of the curriculum of the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program at the University of Basel for which the application is being made.

The procedure applies to Bachelor’s and Master’s studies at the Faculty of Science (including those studying a single subject (Studienfach)).

Submitting an application:

• Use the form for the recognition of academic achievements.
• Please fill out the table carefully. List the courses for which you would like to receive credit on the left side of the table. On the right side of the table, please enter your suggestions for credit recognition, which we will then review. Submit the attachments in German or English. If you wish to submit more than six courses for credit recognition, please use multiple forms and number them accordingly in the file names. 
• Attach certificates of achievement and brief details of the type, scope and content of the courses in PDF format.
• Provide the links to the relevant entries in the online course catalogue of your home University.
• Send the form with all supporting documents, together with a brief accompanying email, Office of the Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Science: studiendekanat-philnat@clutterunibas.ch. 

Processing by the relevant teaching committee:
This may take several weeks, please submit your application well in advance and ensure it is complete. We will contact you in case we have any queries.

Information regarding the decision:

• You will be notified by E-Mail that the letter can be found in the Online Services under ‘Documents’.
• It may take again some time for the recognised academic achievements to appear on your transcript of records.
